R.I.P. Heavy D

Hip hop artist Heavy D died today (November 8th) at the far too young age of 44. The “Now That We Found Love” singer was best known for his work in the R&B scene, but the Jamaican-born Heavy D was a known quantity on the screen as well. Indeed, his work as an actor can be seen as recently as “Tower Heist,” the Brett Ratner-directed and Eddie Murphy-starring comedy currently playing in theaters.

what hip hop albums could you not live without???

Everything we do revolves around music…we wake up to it, listen to it all day, reference it throughout the day, talk about it throughout the day and listen to it before going to sleep at night. We have such good & interesting conversations about music, whether we agree, disagree, teach or learn. We all come from different backgrounds, yet it’s nice when we can come together and enjoy the one thing that makes such a difference in our lives….MUSIC. With that said, this morning on our way back from our sons soccer game, we randomly started talking about our top 5 hip hop albums of all time. This question always seems to get tricky with people and they name the top albums they think people want to hear or what they think makes them sound like they know more about hip hop. We wanna know YOUR personal TOP 5 hip hop albums! What albums could you not live without???

tyler the creator

Well, Yonkers wasn’t the video of the year as Kanye stated earlier this year, but congrats to Tyler the Creator of Odd Future for winning the MTV VMAs Best New Artist! At least something good came out of this years awards show….

Check out Tyler the Creator’s video Yonkers here!

tyler the creator feat. frank ocean – she

Well, that video definitely made me think twice that the windows and doors are locked. Dope song and another crazy video directed by Wolf Haley. Enjoy it or don’t….either way here it is.

way back wednesday – mc’s act like they don’t know

KRS-One’s MC’s Act Like They Don’t Know is a single of his self titled album released in 1995. Produced by DJ Premier this song is an all time hip hop classic. There is so much to say about The Teacher, one of the greatest, if not, the greatest MC to ever touch a mic. There wouldn’t be hip hop without KRS-One. This song is my favorite KRS song and one of my favorite hip hop joints ever. Knowledge Reign Supreme Over Nearly Everybody!
