Came across this gem recently…a video mix of 90′s hip hop mixed by Shortkut. With all the new music that has come out, it’s always a breath of fresh air to take a trip back to the 90′s! At least it is for us…A dope mix to listen to and a treat to watch! Thanks Short!

way back wednesdays – nobody does it better
It’s so crazy how fast time flies…Tomorrow marks the one year anniversary of yet another person taken too soon. Nate Dogg blessed us with so much music in his time, we could never forget him. As we continue to enjoy his music, it also reminds us of how much we need to appreciate life, love and each other. Live Life.
R.I.P. Nate Dogg
way back wednesdays – waitin’ for the dj
A nice feel good song for you today… Talib Kweli ft. Bilal, Waitin’ for the DJ. We love this video and the cameos too. Enjoy!
way back wednesdays – ’98 freestyle part 1
This Way Back Wednesday we take you back to 1998 with one of my favorites: Big L’s “’98 Freestyle” off his album ‘The Big Picture’ released in 2000 after his death in 1999. Another rapper taken too soon, he definitely left his mark with the music he created in such a short amount of time.

I heard this song on KDAY the other day and it brought me back to the good ol’ days of hip hop! Hip Hop drunkies by the Alkaholiks featuring O.D.B. comes to you from the 1997 album Likwidation. Love this joint. It just gets me in a good mood. Happy Way Back Wednesday!
way back wednesdays – chaos
This Way Back Wednesday, we decided to take it back to 1999 and Soundbombing II again. “Chaos” is such a great collaboration of two very talented MCs, and more than 10 years later, when you hear that intro, you can’t wait for that beat to drop! Enjoy…
way back wednesdays – da rockwilder
Way back to 1999, Red & Meth’s “Da Rockwilder” is one that will never get old! Such a great collabo that really doesn’t need much said about it! Enjoy…

way back wednesdays – got til it’s gone
One of our favorite collaborations between hip hop and R&B soul. Janet Jackson’s ‘Got Til It’s Gone’ from her Velvet Rope album samples Joni Mitchell’s ‘Big Yellow Taxi’. Originally the production credit of the song was given to Janet Jackson, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis but Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed and J Dilla claim to have originally produced the track for Janet when she met Q-Tip on the set of Poetic Justice in 1993. Whatever the case may be, we love this joint. Enjoy!
way back wednesdays – royalty
There really isn’t much that needs to be said about this pick. Just a classic Gang Starr track that reminds us of why and how we fell in love with & continue to love hip hop…Happy Way Back Wednesday!
