mixtape mondays – do it. vol 1

Today’s mixtape comes to you from our dude DJ Prophet. This is the first of, what I’m sure is, plenty to come in his mixtape series simply entitled DO IT. Dj Prophet was voted 944 Magazines 2009 Readers Pick for “LA DJ TO PUT ON YOUR RADAR” and “Hip Hop Weekly Magazine” recently listed him as “One of LA’s top club dj’s in 2010.” He can now be heard throughout Los Angeles, Riverside, and Ontario airwaves Friday nights 9PM-12AM while mixing Funk Hip Hop ,R&B and House hits from back in the day on KDAY 93.5 fm. To us, this music is timeless. Enjoy!

soul sundays – a few reasons (truth pt. 2)

This Soul Sunday, we bring you Dwele’s A Few Reasons (Truth Pt.2). Dwele is the type of artist that can sing about anything from new love, old love, one night love, ending love & never ending love making every lyric and song sound so amazing! Whether he is singing the hook on another artists track, his own albums or a McDonalds McCafe commercial, he will not disappoint. Fellas, A Few Reasons (Truth Pt.2) is such a beautiful song that you most definitely need to share with your special lady and tell her a few reasons why you appreciate that she’s yours!

Enjoy!

audible angels or alphabet aerobics?

So I today I was listening to my iTunes and I had it on “random”. It was crazy because Alphabet Aerobics by Blackalicious came on then 2 songs later Audible Angels by The Visionaries came on. Both SUPER DOPE tracks and it just got me wondering… which one is better?

Both 2Mex and Gift of Gab rip the alphabet apart on these classic joints where both MC’s rhyme from A-Z, but which one would you choose? I guess most people would choose geographically… L.A. or the Bay.

Here are both songs:

mixtape mondays – new year new money

Check out the latest mixtape from our boy Justin Credible from the Los Angeles Leakers.

“New Year New Money, that’s what it’s all about right? Not for me though. I don’t do this for money, I do it for the love, my dream, and to try to make a difference in this game. Ok, not to get to deep, but I hope ya’ll enjoy this tape. This is my first time hosting my own mixtape, so there’s definitely some growth #Pause. Some dope new music on here I’m feeling.”

soul sundays – ribbon in the sky

Once a week we will be posting a song that is straight from our soul to yours. Although there are way too many songs and it is very hard to choose one a week, we hope you will enjoy what we bring as well as share favorite songs from your soul!

This lovely Sunday, we bring to you Stevie Wonder’s Ribbon in the Sky. In one conversation, we asked which Stevie song was each others favorite and without even thinking we both instantly named this one. Easily a song that can be played and repeated several times in a row.

Enjoy Soul Sundays y’all!
