way back wednesdays – all in the same gang

I was struggling on what to post today and being that my counterpart was about 7 years old when this came out, I almost didn’t post it. I remember watching this video all the time on MTV (ya know… when they use to play music videos).

All in the same gang was a single released to promote anti-violence by the West Coast All-Stars in 1990. The group consisted of King Tee, Body & Soul, Def Jef, Michel’le, Tone-Loc, Above the Law, Ice-T, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, Eazy-E, J.J. Fad, Young MC, Digital Underground, Oaktown’s 3.5.7 and MC Hammer. The single was nominated for a Grammy in 1991.

Self Destruction was the East Coast anti-violent song headed by the Stop the Violence Movement founded by KRS_One in 1989. This group was constructed of Boogie Down Productions, Stetsasonic, Kool Moe Dee, MC Lyte, Doug E. Fresh, Just-Ice, Heavy D and Public Enemy. The movement was started after a young fan was killed during a BDP and Public Enemy show in 1989.

Check out the video for Self Destruction after the jump.
